Email #3. One More Week Left in the MTC!

Hello family and everyone else who get's forwarded this email,

okay here we go this is my last week at the MTC i'm getting up at 4 in the morning to fly to ST George on the 29th. i know flying weird right? i think a bus would make more sense but any ways i'm excited to go to the feild and do some real mission work.

this week has consisted of countless mind blowing classes and a strong spirit felt all around. Brother Strong is one of the most amazing teachers i've ever had. he teaches a religon class at byu.

on sunday i was called up to the up to speak for five minutes in front of our zone during sacrament meeting. usually i wouldn't talking Gospel without notice sweat it but my district leader never got us the topic to speak on. i later learned i was to speak on prophets but i talked about the plan of salvation. it gave my district a bunch of laughs and a very embarassed and sorry district leader. his name is Elder Seager but he is a pretty cool guy still.

i went to the Temple again today and while walking there i hear two guys shout "HEY IAN!" i looked and it was Elder Bryan Sunby and Elder Tyler Boyd. they are the guys from sherwood park who i would hang out with and longboard with all the time. they got word from Elder Max Jaffary that i was going to the temple today and they decided to come with. it was so stellar to see them! we went through a session together and got pictures after. Max clouldn't make it but Tyler called him for me after so we could talk for it bit. they are all loving they're missions. it was so great to see them.

In the mail i got two postcards from mom and dad (thanks i'll put them on my wall!) and i yellow slip of paper. this curios yellow slip of paper was an invite to the salt lake temple. being Canadian i count as a foreign missionary and get to go to a session at the Salt Lake Temple on Friday. WOOT! my zone is completely american except for two elders amd a sister. everyone else is pretty jealous haha! i can't wait i'm told it's an amazing temple.that's is on firday

i haven't really talked about the food here..hmm here it goes. the food is really good for the most part with a couple not so good dishes every once in a while. i have one major dissapointment though. THE CHOCOLATE MILK IS TERRIBLE!!! dang Americans don't know how to make a good cup of milk. that was probably the hardest part about the MTC to be honest.

I see Nathan everyday and Kam (sherwood park friend) is supposed to get here today so i'm hoping to see him.

I won't lie a miss you guys a lot. thankfully i know i'm in the right place and that makes it an easier pill to swallow being away from all of you. the church is true and this is such and important work. i love being here and i can't wait to actually be in the field.

Email #2!!!

Hey Family!

so it's my first P day in the mtc and i'ts just as hectic as all the other days here. hmm you only get a very limited time on the computer to so this might be a little bit shorter of a message then you guys expect sorry about that.

The MTC is taking a lot of getting used to i'm doing my best though. the gym floor is getting redone so i'm told i'm probably not going to see any Apostles come through which is kind of annoying. still though i have great teachers who know there stuff. my district is really cool. half of us are going to Dallas and the rest of us are going to St George. my companion's names is Elder Curlee from California and he is convert to the church. he has a really strong testimony and he is growing my testimony to. the one bad thing is i feel like mom sometimes cause i have to nag him a bit to clean his room. haha i know ironic right. Believe it or not i'm the clean one in our room. Thanks for teaching me right Mom.

okay keep emailing me i love hearing from you guys a lot. my computer time is almost expired i only got 15 minutes today.

i'm learing so much the spirit is so strong and i'm learning lots. I went to the temple today and i learn more there everytime i got

i miss you guys so much and i love you all. i'm out here because of the amazing examples of my family. the church is true 143

First Missionary Email!!! September 8, 2010

Okay wow hi guys i'm at the mtc safe and sound. I got here around 9 yesterday. The flight felt way longer then it actually was. When i got to Denver i desperately wanted to find some missionaries. I found a senior couple on there way to Toronto East Mission. There names were elder and sister Mayo they were so nice. i wanted to give them a hug i was so glad to see them cause flying alone is no fun. it was nice when i finally got to the mtc one thing that made me so happy was my room number was 143!

i just got my name tag about an hour ago and putting that on i really felt like a missionary and walking into the mtc the spirit slaps you in the face. it's surprisingly comfortable here to i guess that's cause everyone here can relate to you on some level. i don't have a companion yet i'm told i'll meet him around 2 but for right now i've been handing out with Elder Lopez. he is an early arrival like me.

wow this is a really surreal feeling i'm on a mission!!! being here though i know it's the right thing to do and that's cause my family is so amazing. i got to share my testimony with all the international missionaries(most of them from Korea) and what i talked about was how missionary work blessed my family. if it weren't for missionaries our family wouldn't have the gospel and we wouldn't know the blessing of eternal families. i have a small challenge from my family and anyone else who feels so inclined. can you send me a email of your testimony. i thought it would be something nice to have and something i could keep with me while on the mission.

i love you all so much i have the best family anyone could ask for. all our family is so strong and have such solid testimonies and i can't thank you guys enough for the example you guys set for me. i can't wait to go to the temple with all these other missionaries and feel of the spirit there. i know going on a mission is the rights thing to do and as long as i put my faith in heavenly father and Jesus Christ i know i'll feel closer to my family and not lonely cause i'll be comforted through the spirit. the church is true and i love you guys so much i couldn't ask for a better family.

love always
