Elder Curlee... where have you gone?

Hi,

I thought finally just once I would be able to predict a transfer call. I have never been right and that still is the case. Elder Curlee is getting transferred. We thought we were staying together and president said he saw no reason to split us up. We did really good together and I'm really bummed that he is going. My new companion is Elder Schmit. All they told me was he needs to learn to work hard. It would be nice if we got just one more transfer together.

Other then that this week is really dry. I'm just wondering if Alison had her baby yet. Another addition to the family is always awesome to hear about.

We found a couple new investigators to teach and both seem pretty promising. One of them has just moved from Colorado City within the last few months. Colorado City is a mecca for FLDS members that just means they are polygamists. This guy is 19 and says he got out cause the religion is pretty screwed up. He was really nice and has already been going to church. I'm excited to start teaching him he seems pretty ready for the Gospel.

Well just waiting on news about the baby keep me posted.

Q: How are you doing? A: Five by Five

Hello,

Do you ever just wake up and jump for absolute joy because you are or were a missionary? Cause that's what I have felt like doing This whole week!

This weekend was amazing. Our 4 baptisms turned to 5. Five by Five means everything is okay and it's the number of baptisms we had. These baptism were not just numbers either. Each on was special and the spirit was poured out on all of them and during there confirmations to. The Extra Baptism was for Chris. He is 38 and missionaries heve been seening him for a while. His hang up was smoking, Through some personal revelation he was able to work through it and has been without smoking for the better part of a month. Kelsey, Max, Alicia, Kaysha, and Chris are such special people and it was an amazing experience teaching them. It felt like all of them had been members for a long time and all they needed was to be Baptized.

Haha I don't even know what else to write about. I'm Just very Happy and Grateful. Almost at my year mark and that scares me cause that means I only have a year left and there is still so much more to learn and do.

Keep The Font Full

Hi,

This week has been pretty good so far. Our Investigators are commiting. We had one baptism on friday for a 12 year old girl named Danielle and next week we should have 4 baptisms... What 4!? Yep really 4!!! The first 2 are Kelsey and Max. They are brother and sister. Kelsey is 16 and has a boyfriend serving a mission right now. Max is 10 amd the only way to explain him as Elder Curlee puts it is he's an walking exlamation point( so one of these !). They are a lot of fun to teach and we went to Church with them yesterday. We went to primary with max to it was a lot of fun. They will be Baptized on saturday. The other 2 are Kaysha and Alicia. They are mother and daughter. They are part of an awesome family. Kaysha is 9 and has a younger brother named Kaygen. There Dad is awesome to his name is Blue. They are an awesome family. We Love all these people a lot Saturday is going to be great! We ran into President yesterday and we told him about the baptisms and he was excited for us. We have been begging him to keep us together and how things have been going that looks pretty good that Elder Curlee and I will stay together. We ask him to keep us together every week in our emails and whenever we see him. It might even be annoying at this point but thats okay as long as dreams come true.

Today is going to be asweome to. Cal Clark who I taught in Loa just got Baptized and the Clarks are coming to visit me today. I can't wait to see them I lvoe them all a lot. We are going out for Denny's and it will be nice to catch up.

Sorry such a short message but between the Clarks and the awesome people we teach that's the most exciting thing this week. I love this place and this work.

Cereal Sale

Hello,

Oh man it's hot! I'm not made for this heat. Thankfully Sister Pickette graciously cut the sleeves off my long sleeve shirts so things have cooled down a little. Today Elder Curlee and I are excited for a Cereal sale. We have become avid cupon clippers to save a buck and it's paying off. We have one that's for 10 bucks off cereal when you buy 10 boxes. We did the math and that equals out to 1.50 per box times 10 is 11.50. That 5 boxes for Elder Curlee and 5 for me. happy days. I really hope someone else out there finds this as exciting as me.

Exciting this week Clarke's birthday. Happy birthday Big Brother Love you a ton!

We had a pretty neat miricle this week. We were walking down main street to go grab a bite to eat and it started raining. after walking a short ways a guy named chris pulled over and said those words every Elder loves to hear "Elders want a ride?" Off course we did cause it was raining and we felt like walking instead of driving that day and it would seem that turned out to be the wrong decision to walk instead of drive. He drives us to our food choice destionation of the day and as we pull up he asks us if we want to come to the private school with him to participate in a class he was teaching. He was teaching a class called Man Skills at this private school. It's not one of those fancy schools from the vibe I got from the students it's for troubled kids or ones that fall behind. He said he would be teaching some kids to make breadsticks and asked if we would like to come. We decided it would be fun and good to be around some new people in a defferent scenario that most missionaries get to go to. We got there and started meeting some of the kids. They are from all over the states and even one kid was from Egypt. For some reason I get extremely relived to meet people who are not from Utah and have never really been around LDS people before. I met a lady from Little Rock Arkansas a couple months back and that made my whole week cause we were able to teach her for a couple minutes. I like the Locals but it's always nice to meet a new type. Anyways we had a great time cooking with them and after we were able to share a short lesson on our missionary purpose. The had lots of questions and were actually interested! We invited them to come play soccer with us today and they seemed pretty excited. Chris said he would give them a ride and so we should see them later on today. We are going to start teaching as many who will listen.

That was a fun miracle and one I was thankful for. We have to teach when we find and find when we teach. It's a great life here lots of awesome people to teach kids adults and everything inbetween. Elder Curlee is the man we get along great and we are begging President to keep us together.

From Gunnison

Hi,

first of congrats Clarke and Cecilia I'm so proud of both of you and I am so excited to be an Uncle. If you ever need a babysitter when you get back I will drop anything to do that. Late night graveyard shift even I'm there. Kinda sad I won't meet Lily till she is a year old but that's alright I will have two new people to say high to by the time I get home. Mom and Dad sound really happy to be grandparents finally. Yay Family happy days!

Life in gunnison is really good so far. It's really refreshing to serve here so far. This area already works really well and it's already growing. We have found and are teaching some golden investigators. It's tough going back to 18 wards though I was getting used to just the 3 and knowing everyone. That's really my only complaint being a Utah missionary covering so many wards its hard to know anyone.

Life here is just good right now. Lots of people to teach and talk to who are awesome and more on the way. I like it here already and I was able to so far see brother Poulson again and the clarks. Cal just got baptized and they said they would come visit me soon.
