Almost

Hi Everyone,

It's Elder Dyer here coming at you from week 5 in the mission field.

this has been a week with it's ups and downs though. i think this has definitely been my "i miss my family so much week." also to go along this week i got a migrane on friday and that put me out most of the day. one of the worse ones i've ever had to. let's just say i had a lot of pizza before it kicked in to. migranes make me sick and so i'm guessing everyone can fill in the lovely picture from there. for some reason to i woke up the other day and my eye is all swollen. i'm getting all my mission sickness for the next 2 years out in one transfer. i'll send you a picture soon. i could barely open my eye!

however we did teach the most lessons we have ever taught in one week for us this week. So that is good. I'm getting more confident in teaching but it's still hard and awkward sometimes.

the reason this email is happening on a tuesday is cause we had zone conference yeaterday. Elder Richards of the 70 came and talked to our zone. he brought a long with him many mind blowing and uplifting thoughts and messages. It was really cool and i got o see my MTC companion Elder Curlee to! I took lots of notes and had a great day yesterday

Dad i get to go to Manti temple on thursday with the Zone so it's going to be exciting. Also you asked about the trailer. we live in one of those permanent placed trailers. it doesn't have any wheels. just mice haha.

we go on splits just about everynight so i'm learing a lot and trying to be a better teacher. i still have a really long way to go though.

i'll leave you with the highlight of my week. Mom sent me a care package and it had Clarke's Missionary tag in it. it just reminded me that i have the best family ever and i'm so happy i get to be the last missionary out of the Dyer's. i miss you guys lots however I've been called to serve.

ps sorry the email is kind of short i had to write some emails to specific emails to other people today.

week 3

Can you guys believe it it's been a month and a half already! time has been flying

this week has been fun. i'm feeling a lot more comfortable. today Elder Doane and i are going on splits so we'll be without eachother. i'm going and teaching 3 lessons with a 17 year old preist. that forces me to be the season veteran out of us 2. i'm a little worried i'm hoping the spirit will do most of the work. Elder Doane never sent his last companion on splits but he feels i can handle myself so we'll see. i've only done one lesson without him so far.

sounds like the weather back home is pretty nice that's definitely not the case here. it's been really rainy lately and everyone thinks it's really cold. i like it though but then again we don't have to spend much time in it cause we have a car. it's nice though this place is beautiful? mountains on one side and 20 minutes away there is desert. Dad you said it was like an old western movie and you are right. that goes for the people out here to. there are no shortage of cowboy boots and hats here. everyone here hunts to. it's the start of deer and elk hunting season. kids even get school out for it. the problem with that is half our investigators leave to go shoot some of them. no one has been home. for this area it would be nice to have a hunting calender or something so we know why people have been missing.

it's been really busy here this past week. we have 8 progressing investigators and 5 on date to be baptized! there is a chance between Elder Doane and our splits tonight we'll have 3 more on date!

sorry again there are no pictures. next week i'm going to the big city of price so i'll make sure to print some off

one thing i really didn't expect when coming on a mission and teaching people all days was just how much love there is in teaching investigators. i love them they are such good people and you can feel such a strong spirit from them. Elder Mckay always said "love everyone." i've really learned this to be true.

i love you guys so much the church is true. i can't wait to write home and tell you guys about the first baptism i can attened.

ps our mice count as of this morning is 3. we need 6 more to catch up with the moab elders

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving! Unless your in the states cause then it is colunbus day here instead. i still have to wait a month for a turkey dinner.

okay so this is my 12th day here and i think i'm catching on to things. i've met most of our investigators and am learning the area a lot better. i'm thankful i get to drive it helps when trying to learn the place. Elder Doane has been in this area for 3 moths so he's pretty convinced that he's going to get transferred and i'm going to be Senior Companion in this area. we'll see though i'd deffinitely like to stay here. there are many people to teach and lots of really awesome members who go on exchanges with us.

this week has been lots of fun and really productive. we taught a lot of lessons and even tracked. we got a couple new investigators from it. we get so many refferals to it's stellar cause there is always someone to teach.

the weather got pretty intense here this last week. we don't get to watch the news but we heard about tornados in the area! i'm not sure if this is true but the wind was definitely blowing. lots of missing trampolines and blown down trees and what not. it made me think of Alisons mission when she had to hang out in the tub till the storm past.

Elder Doane and I usually write emails at the library but it was closed for clolumbus day. we drove out to the family history center to write them there and on the way we got pulled over by a state trooper. he walks up asked to see my license looks at it waits then askes if we have a dinner appointment on wednesday. apparently his house is having us over on wednesday and he just wanted to mess with us. ugh he freaked us out! it was pretty funny though

this mission is awesome i'm loving the scriptures more and more each day. i really look forward to studying them each morning and being on a mission is so much fun. i hope everyone is reading there scriptures everyday cause it's really important. this transfer i get to go to the temple in manti to! i'm really excited for that cause i know it's your favorite one dad.

i love it here and the missionaries here are defintely well taken care of and it's really appreciated cause there is so much to do. lots of lessons to teach and people to find

i love you guys the church is true!!!

I'm here!!!

sorry it took long to write and email. i left the mtc on wednesday and that's when my p day was so i had to wait until today for my first real in the field p day to write everyone.

so let's see a lot has happened since wednesday.

I got to St George around 8:30 in the morning and was greeted by the AP's then by President Leonard and his wife. Both of the AP's are from Canada one is from Montreal and the other form Cherry Grove. First thing the Elder from Cherry Grove said was "We're in the same stake!" cause he is also from Bonnie Doon stake.

From the airport we got driven to the mission home and were served breakfast. Waffels and real eggs it was amazing! it was nice to eat something other then mtc food. After breakfast we went to the stake center across from the temple and had orientation and interviews with the president. After all that a bunch of Elders and Sisters came in and that's when we got our new companion. All us new missionaries were nervous and all the trainers were super excited. I was called up first and introduced to my Trainer Elder Doane from Mesa Arizona and he told me we are serving in the Castle Dale area. funny thing about that is i flew from Salt Lake just to drive two thirds of the way back to Emery County where the small town of Castle Dale is. the drive was 3 hours long. the scenery is beautiful though so the drive was nice and i had a good car nap to. We got to our apartment at 8 that night. so my apartment is actually a trailer! yep that's right i live in a beat up old trailer and i love it. after i'm done this email Elder Doan and I have to go buy mouse traps. i spotted one in our place yesterday. I guess that's what happens being a missionary in a trailer park. it's really fun though.

Today to of our golden investigators are taking us to the desert to see the wedge. I don't know much about it but it's supposed to look like the grand canyon. Also i'm the driver! five days out and i get to drive the car.

Elder Doane is stellar and a fantastic missionary. he loves the work and i'm learning tonnes from him. he's been out 6 months we get along really well.

So the picture Elder Blake painted for me of what St George would be like is completely false from where I am. I thought it was going to be all rich old people and golf courses but that is not the case. most of the people we teach are living in trailer parks working some sort manual labor at the mines and most of the members live on a farm. It is mostly old people though. Everyone here is super nice and i love the people we teach they are so receptive and kind.

Elder Doane keeps saying this is the best mission in the world and i'm definitely thinking that is true. As much as i miss everyone i know this is where i'm supposed to be. Yesterday we went to Emery to watch conference with the Mailins. when we got there we were advised to take out our notebooks cause they take notes on every talk and then share what they learned from each one. this led to an amazing Gospel conversation and showed me how important the messages shared really are. there was so much substance to all the talks yesterday. taking notes made conference 10 time better!

This place is amazing and the church is true!
